Upon entering our office our receptionist will greet you and welcome you as a member of our family. We will request you fill our patient forms located in the New Patient Center. The paperwork provides us with general information about yourself and your condition, and help us get acquainted with you as a person.
Your initial consultation will be with the New Patient Assistant. She will take down your information, ask a few pertinent questions and proceed to explain our office procedures. She will then determine what type of care you will need -- Acupuncture, Chiropractic, NeuroFeedback, or Nutritional and inform the appropriate Doctor.
Next, you will have an examination so we can objectively identify the target areas for treatment. Your first visit is designed for the Doctor to learn more about you, your condition and your expectations.
Just like you wouldn't fix a car or computer without diagnostic testing, we make it a point to examine each patient before any treatments. We do this by testing your reflexes, your ability to turn and bend as well as other standard neurologic, orthopedic, postural, and physical examinations. If necessary, we can even perform sEMG or Dynamic EMG testing - the same tests that NASA used to learn how astronauts' bodies react in space.
And, of course, nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
Your specific condition may require us to take x-rays to get the complete story of you. X-rays help us rule out more serious conditions and assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you. As they say, seeing is believing, and most people are amazed once they view their x-rays because they can often immediately identify their own misalignments and disc degeneration.
It is necessary for a Chiropractic Patient to recieve x-rays unless you have brought in "recent" ones (no more than 6 months old).
Acupuncture patients do not need x-rays unless the Doctor determines there is another problem that requires this procedure to be done.
Report of Findings
Once all the information and examinations have been performed, the Doctor will give you a report of findings to answer the three most popular questions:
- Can you help me?
- What do you recommend that I do to get better?
- How much is it going to cost?
After discussing with you your history and goals, examining you and reviewing any x-rays or tests, the Doctor will discuss his / her recommendations. If you have a condition that requires care with other providers, the doctor will tell you. If we believe we can help you, we will recommend treatment and a wellness program.
Patients will generally receive their first Acupuncture or Chiropractic treatment on their second visit to our office. The initial visit is a fact-finding mission to furnish the doctor with a complete and holistic view of you as a person. Therefore, the doctors use the time between the first and second visit to review your information and make an informed decision as to what is best for you. We can however provide you with different therapies to help alleviate your pain on the first visit.
